Looking for your property markers, gas or propane lines, well housings, or other buried objects? A magnetic locator is the ideal tool for the task.
Our daily magnetic locator rentals are $55 (plus a combined delivery and pickup surcharge). Rent for 2+ days and save $5 per day.
We’ll deliver your magnetic locator rental right to your door (and pick it up when you’re done). We’ll show you how to use it, and answer any questions you may have.
Unlike metal detectors, magnetic locators only detect magnetic fields from ferrous objects (those containing iron) and ferro-magnetic objects (those containing iron, cobalt, or nickel). For this reason, a magnetic locator is most often used as a survey pin locator, gas line finder, utility locator, and buried well-housing hunting tool.
A magnetic locator won’t detect copper, aluminum foil or any other kinds of metallic debris. It can be used in rain or snow because it’s water-resistant. This magnetic locator can locate an object from 4″ to 15′ below the ground, depending on the size and depth of the object. The larger the object, the deeper it can be located. Magnetic locators aren’t affected by wood, mulch, concrete, or rocks (unless those rocks contain iron).
When it finds an object, the locator shows a number, as well as a bar graph on its display. Both of these tell you how near to a ferrous object the locator may be. The stronger the magnetic signal, the higher the number, and further the graph extends across the screen. The locator also emits a continuous sound that gets louder and higher-pitched as it nears a magnetic signal.
Consider adding these accessories to your rental: a 300′ tape measure or a measuring wheel.
